A tractor-trailer changed lanes into a group of motorcyclists on I-10

A group of riders was traveling together in the left lane of Interstate 10 East. According to the petition, a Farmer Trans Cargo tractor-trailer and a second vehicle moved out of the right lane and into the riders’ path, crashing into them and leaving them injured. Our firm represents the riders in holding the trucking company and both drivers accountable.
What Happened

Riders in their own lane — and two vehicles that crossed into them.

On or about September 12, 2025, our clients were riding their motorcycles together in the left lane of Interstate 10 East, near the 10907 block of the freeway.

According to the petition, a tractor-trailer owned by Farmer Trans Cargo, Inc. and driven by its employee Jagmal Jagmal was traveling in the right lane, as was a second vehicle driven by Vanessa Zaragoza. The petition alleges that the defendants failed to control their speed, failed to maintain a single lane of traffic, and made unsafe lane changes from the right lane into the left lane — crashing into the riders.

The riders were injured in the collision. A motorcyclist riding lawfully in his or her own lane has no protection when a much larger vehicle crosses into that lane, and the petition alleges that exactly this kind of unsafe, preventable lane change caused the crash.

What We Found

A commercial carrier and two drivers the petition holds responsible.

One of the vehicles involved was a commercial tractor-trailer operated by Farmer Trans Cargo, Inc. through its employee, who the petition alleges was acting in the course and scope of his employment. Under Texas law, a motor carrier is responsible for the negligence of a driver operating its truck on company business, and is independently responsible for the way it hires, trains, and supervises its drivers. The petition pleads both vicarious liability and negligent hiring, training, and supervision against the company, along with negligence against the second driver.

The petition also pleads gross negligence, alleging the defendants acted with conscious indifference to an extreme degree of risk — which, if proven, would support exemplary damages. We are pursuing the evidence that documents how the crash happened: the crash report, the driver’s qualifications and hours, the truck’s maintenance and telematics data, and the carrier’s hiring and supervision records. These allegations are claims in the petition, to be established through discovery and at trial.
